Mystic Brew Cafe

Hello lovelies,

Yesterday , I had a spontaneous invitation from Lee to go out and have a walk. I suggested we go to a cafe nearby the church so we can have rest and some food.

This cafe is also known as Mystic Brew! It's current theme is something from a mystical and magical world with a very chill and mysterious ambiance. There's some mini shops inside where you can purchase things you fancy or stay for the delicious food and drinks!

De-pooping Shrimp and Burnt Butter??

On Fridays we have our cooking class focused on Fish and Meat dishes.

Last Friday, we just had our first meal done!

We made Shrimp Jambalaya and Beef tenderloin wrapped in Bacon with Hollandaise sauce on top of string beans.

The Shrimp Jambalaya reminds me of Paella and ours came out quite spicy !! We learned how to devein a shrimp (which is de-pooping to me hahaha). It was really interesting!

When we made the Hollandaise sauce, we burnt the butter and it was really terrible! :'( Everything smelt like burnt popcorn and we had to get another butter... sigh such a waste! But it was alright afterwards, we made a pretty decent sauce even though it was a bit on the sour side.

I really enjoyed it! And it actually doesn't take very long to make, just long to prep everything.

Once I've perfected making it again at home, I'll share the recipe :) 

But I believe the serving amount we made is good for one cover so if you want to make for more people, you'd want to adjust the measurements ♥

Kawaii in Manila 2 Event

Hello there everyone!

Sept. 6 was the much awaited, Kawaii in Manila 2!

I'm so sorry I haven't updated in such a long time but I had no internet up until yesterday! :'(
Here is my post about the event and things I've done!

Quick Update

Hello my sweets ♥

A lot has happened while I was away. The main reason I have not been posting was because I had finals. And during my finals, I had no internet.

It was quite difficult living without internet, especially since some of our lecture notes were available only online.

However, I just want to make a quick update to this blog.

• I've got a new phone! Better photos are on their way!! (My phone has several cracks on it and dust was already collecting inside the unit. Getting it repaired is just as much as buying a new phone so-) 
• Finals!! I've pretty much finished up all my finals, I just need one more exam and I'm done. I still have some scholar work to finish up though :( 

Tomorrow's update will involve my visit to my alma matter ♥ Heehee :]

Ungodly Hour

Just this morning, my mom woke me up to accompany her to the airport. It was 6:30 in the morning and I slept rather late last night. I kind of crashed and burned because of the caffeine I had yesterday and junk I ate.

But none the less, I dressed up as fast as I could and we hit the road. Unlike others, I'm really a morning person! So if you have a hard time getting up, I'll give you some tips on how to get up early and be energetic and go about your day! :)

Don't we get this a lot?

We say this but they get that? It's really frustrating when your message doesn't get across! Sometimes, the damage is small, but in other cases, the damage is great.

During my hospitality class, we discussed how important communication is. If we misinterpret the request of the guest, we will not only lose business from him but we might even lose future business with other clients!

And this doesn't only affect the business world; relationships are also caught in the crossfire!

So what can you do to make yourself understood?

The Results Are In!

The student council results are in now!

And..

I've won the elections! ♥ ♪ ♫

I am extremely happy with the results and my competitors are really awesome. (They're my friends heehee) I was really anxious since my friends are really great candidates ♥ I shall do my best to lead my fellow classmates and be an example as well! :')

Aside from that, Lee will be coming over tomorrow. He wants to watch chick flicks with me!

Honestly I was so surprised to hear that he wanted to watch these with me but he just wants to see me get all kilig and stuff! Jeez.

A Birthday spent by the Sea

Hello everyone! ♥

I've been getting more and more page views which is nice :)
It's steadily growing and it motivates me, knowing that someone just so happened to stumble onto my blog !

Anyway, it was my father's birthday yesterday. We celebrated by going to Pico de Loro and eating at lagoa which is near the bowling alley. It was nice but worrisome because we were notified that there may be an upcoming storm. The lights flickered and the power was out for a while but it came back in a few minutes.

We ordered a lot of food. I particularly ordered Chap Chae

I have a korean friend where her family made this dish and I absolutely LOVED IT! However, when I tasted the Chap Chae here in Pico, it did not meet my expectations. I was greatly disappointed, I did not get more than three bites. But everything else was delicious! I guess what threw me off was the noodles. But we did not let that get to us. 

We watched movies and just chilled in our room.

Sunday Morning

We got ready and went to church but we headed to the Country Club instead. The roofing on the actual church was damaged by Typhoon Glenda so we had to have our mass somewhere else. The lesson that our preacher told us really stuck to me; How service is more valuable than money. It made me reflect a lot and it was a very good sermon.

My mother and I also visited a model unit in Pico and it was absolutely divine! We are not allowed to take pictures but I can say that it looks as if it was lifted from a magazine! We're hoping to meet the designer one day .

I'm so curious as to who this pageview could be. It's been consistent that I have one reader at the very least. And for that, I thank you very much!

A Message To My Readers

Hello readers!

An update from Las Pinas as to the situation with Meralco. I just want to address this problem first.

Anyway, there are still areas which do not have electricity even though we're in the same area! Which is really odd but I know they're trying their best but there have been comments from people who actually went to some of their offices and found that they seem to be free loading? :\

I'm not sure what to feel readers but I'm glad I have power and internet. :') I'm also feeling quite sad because there were lives that have been lost due to Typhoon Glenda and some are missing. 

It hurts to see friends of mine posting images of missing people and requesting for information on their whereabouts. I just pray that the people who are missing shall be found and that the lives that were lost will find peace. Condolences to the families who have lost so much. Your house can be rebuilt but it is very difficult to replace a loved one. I am just one of the few fortunate people who did not lose much and for that I am grateful. To my readers, please take care and watch over each other, especially those in the Philippines. Another typhoon is coming and I don't know so much about it but charge all your devices, have enough rations and water. Stay safe ♥

What have I been doing today?

Well I'm making a chemistry study guide for my boyfriend who will be coming over again so we can go over it. He doesn't have electricity in his place even though he's near me! Weirdd but anyway, 

I don't want to post pictures of it yet since it's for him and also because I am not exactly finished with it, hahaha!

Just been updated by Meralco that there would be a rotating brown out that will affect some parts of Las Pinas (my area) that would last 5-6 hours :|

Homestuck

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted much. Here's what I did for Monday!

I handled the store 'SNX' inside our campus ! I also wrote what was on the little signboard (though only the green lettering) It was really fun though a bit difficult at first! I didn't get to really use the cash registrar. I only pressed the button where it just open and closes the drawer hahaha! 

Now back to our main post. Where have I been??

Well, Tuesday afternoon at around 4:30 pm, our dean declared no classes for that day and today. We were so psyched to go home! Though the reason for suspension was because there would be a storm coming by. And it was a really bad storm. I'm not sure if it was worse or not but in our area, the rain wasn't so bad but the winds were really strong!!

The neighbors already started cutting up the tree that fell over. Good thing it didn't destroy anything, it kind of just fell over a bit on the shed they had. Other than that we're perfectly fine ♥ Although this is in my area only. Further north, the situation was much m

ore drastic. Trees and leaves filled the whole area and blocked off major roads :( !

Sunday with a View

Hello again !

Today we had a very spontaneous adventure to Tagaytay! My dad decided that we'd have lunch there and visit the Skyranch. I've never seen that place before so hearing about it made me excited. (Since there would be a ferris wheel. Yay! )

My outfit for today was all blue. Funny because it's actually a dress and I wore a skirt on top of it because the dress 

Can't remember where I bought these pieces :<

We had ... I can't really recall all the filipino dishes. There's bulalo, liempo, fried chicken, buttered shrimp and some rice. :) Yummy food but the service and place wasn't really good. I liked this place before all these changes appeared. I don't know if we'll ever come back here, sadly :( .

We also went to Sky Ranch which is an amusement park! Compared to other amusement parks in other places, it's pretty small. It was cool seeing booths filled with shirts, fans featuring Tagaytay, food, and other trinkets. I bought two pairs of earrings; One is peridot studs while another is just a heart stud. :)

We at some more food at Krispy Kreme then went home! On the way home though we bought some really small roses for the garden. The picture I took of it got blurry so none for this post :( 

While we waited in the car, I spotted a hello kitty van!

Our July in The Rain

Hello everyone!

Sorry I didn't post last night ! So many things happened yesterday. I'll sum it up here; Student Council, Wound Revealed, Anniversary.  That's pretty much what happened.

First, my friends and I got our pictures taken for the student council campaign. We're all running for level representative! I really looked messed up in my picture so I tried to photoshop it a bit but gave up and asked one of my friends (who does not go to my school) to help me.

But alas, I feel like a hopeless case. 

Even if I put some make up on and tried to fix my hair, I still looked terrible :'( Oh and I'd like to mention Ely and thank her for giving me a make up piece ! Thank you so much I love it and I'll use it ♥ !! Check out her blog here !!

MOVING ON THOUGH

I got a good look at my finger yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought. The nurse told me that I tore my skin off so there would be a lot of blood. I see already the membrane healing itself . I would post pictures buuut it may be graphic and it might trigger some people. I'll try putting it in a spoiler window thing on this post soon when I learn how. Hahaha. I just have to clean it every day and I should be as good as new in the later days of next week ! :)

MOVING ON ONCE AGAIN

It was also a very special day and this day means a whole lot to me. This was the day I met my boyfriend :)

I would post a picture but he requested that I won't. (He's shy :') Hahaha) 

So after my classes, he surprised me on my commute home with a Red Ribbon package!

Greek Salad with Blood Dressing?!

Hello everyone!

I'm quite surprised I've already attracted some viewers!
So again, My name is Katrina and today's events were pretty scary.

Today we had kitchen practical, so I'm helping out in the kitchen, specifically the cold kitchen.

COLD KITCHEN(noun)

Where food that does not 

require cooking is prepared.

ex. salads and sandwiches

Today was one of our busiest days EVER!! Our professor/head chef left us before the restaurant opened to attend an important briefing elsewhere. I thought my part of the kitchen wouldn't be asked to make a lot of things but, I was wrong. We made in total 20 sandwiches in one day. I mean, we're a small school and I didn't think that many sandwiches would be gone in just a few hours!! But hey, it was fun !

Now the highlight of the day, why is there blood dressing on my Greek Salad??

Well it's because

I'm trooper pfft

I cut my finger. 

"It probably isn't that big" 

Yeah I think it isn't reaally

 I actually cut off a chunk of my finger. About 1 cm long and 0.5 cm deep. And there was A LOT OF BLOOD. I was surprised I didn't freak out. My instincts just told me to remain calm. It only hurt like hell when I ran water down on the wound.

Expectation

 I didn't want my fellow classmates to panic, despite the blood pooling in my palm and running down my forearm.

Reality

"Oh shit"

Sad thing about it was that I didn't really get "immediate medical attention". The nurse in my building was MIA so we opted to wait first. I waited (what felt like) 10 minutes and just decided to cross the street and go into the highschool clinic which took a student assistant and I about 5 minutes to get to. I got bandaged up and I guess I passed out due to blood loss in the clinic and slept for 2 hours :') The student assistant also bought me pineapple juice since I needed something sweet. Thank you for going out of your way and doing so! :') I was hoping for cake but can't complain.

I went back to campus and reassured everyone that I'm fine. I bought some tacos and it was delicious.

So yeah, pretty eventful I guess. Made tons of sandwiches, chopped up my finger, ate some tacos. Today is a pretty good day :)
