Ungodly Hour

Sunday, August 17, 2014
Just this morning, my mom woke me up to accompany her to the airport. It was 6:30 in the morning and I slept rather late last night. I kind of crashed and burned because of the caffeine I had yesterday and junk I ate.

But none the less, I dressed up as fast as I could and we hit the road. Unlike others, I'm really a morning person! So if you have a hard time getting up, I'll give you some tips on how to get up early and be energetic and go about your day! :)

1. Have more than one alarm

First, get a target time. What time should you really be awake and moving? Let's say at 5 am, you have to be up and going to get ready. Set your alarm at around 4:30 or even 4:00. Then put more alarms to fill in the gap till 5:00.

So you should have about 5 alarms, with maybe 5 minute intervals in between. So 4:30, 4:35, 4:40, 4:45, 4:50, then 5:00. Why the hell should I do that? You might ask. But trust me, every time you wake up to your alarm, you'll get more and more awake to do so, thus you won't be so groggy to get up when you really need to.

2. Change the tone of your Alarm every week or two.

You might follow the first step but you still wake up late? "I already have freakin 10 alarms, why am I sleeping through them?!?" Well, because you've gotten used to the sound. And that is not good. Your brain has already adjusted to the sound and it may just slip into your subconscious. So, change your alarm every week, so that your brain won't get the chance to let it slide :)

3. Stand up or sit up after waking up.

Don't just lie there when you slam your alarm clock off. GET UP! You will slowly fall back to sleep if you lie there. So sit up or stand so that you can shake off the sleepy feel :)

4. Cold Showers

If you're like me, I cannot really stand cold showers. You can start off with your normal regular shower but maybe once you're done, have a final cold rinse to get you awake. Since your regular shower may be warm, you'll feel comfortable and likely to doze off. That's not the case! You need to be ready to go and aware so let that cold splash set you up.

5. Have a good breakfast

You need energy to perform so just having cereal and a piece of toast isn't going to last you. Maybe have some energy bars or something you can munch on later in the day; it can help if you don't have the time to eat.

6. Get enough sleep

I cannot imagine anyone going without maybe more than 4 hours of sleep. You need at least 8 hours of sleep, especially if you're still young (maybe teens or so). Your body needs to rest!

This is all I've got so far, I hope this helps you get up and get going ♥

Take care!!
